Labor Min says Russia cannot reduce payroll tax from 30%

MOSCOW, Feb 7 (PRIME) -- Russia must not reduce the payroll tax from the current 30%, Labor Minister Maxim Topilin said at a forum on Wednesday.

“It seems strange to me when they say that we need to reduce the payroll tax because we cannot say now that budgets of non-budgetary funds, the Pension Fund and the Social Protection Fund, that these budgets are sufficient in terms of payroll tax collection,” Topilin said.

The Finance Ministry earlier offered to set an equal 22% rate for the payroll tax and value-added tax, now at 18%.
